WHAT IS A HEARING AID FITTING?

Getting your hearing aids fitted is an important part of successfully treating your hearing loss. Our audiologists are trained and qualified to fit hearing aids properly. It’s a multistep process that involves creating an ear mold and programming or adjusting the hearing aid for your hearing loss and lifestyle. Hearing aids function better when fitted specifically to your ears and programmed for your individual needs, which is why it’s never a good idea to buy a generic hearing aid online.

Overall, hearing aids have become sleeker and better at controlling noise than they once were. We will help you select hearing aids to best meet your needs and check to make sure your hearing aids have the right fit. We program the hearing aids and recheck your hearing while you are wearing them. We’ll demonstrate everything you need to know about your hearing aids including all the advanced features and teach you how to operate and take care of them. Should the new hearing aids fall short of your expectations, simply return them. We’ll be happy to make adjustments for you.

Hearing Aid Fittings Are Critical for Good Results

We customize your hearing aids based on the hearing test results, your preferences and how you plan to use them. We program your hearing aids so you’ll be able to hear in different environments, including in crowds, restaurants, and other situations where it may be difficult to hear. Everyone hears differently, and people with similar levels of hearing loss may have different setting preferences.

We Use Live Speech Mapping

Live Speech Mapping is a process to fit hearing aids using real-time speech and probe microphones so you can immediately experience the benefits of your new hearing aids as well as the fitting process.

Caring for Your Hearing Aids

When you’re buying a hearing aid, you’re entering a long-term relationship with us. We won’t be happy until you hear again and are satisfied with your hearing aids. It may take a few visits to adjust your hearing aids. We’ll review situations where they are working perfectly as well as where they need improvement. We’ll continue to adjust your hearing aids until you feel confident no matter where you are.

Today’s hearing aids are highly customizable, and small changes may make all the difference. Hearing aids should be comfortable. The volume should be set to your preferences. If you’re not happy with yours, see us right away. We will alter them until they are comfortable.

Adjusting to Hearing Aids

Hearing loss usually develops over time. Likewise It may take time and practice to adjust to hearing sounds again after living so long without hearing aids. It takes some of our patients only a couple of days to adjust to hearing aids, but most people need several weeks and some may need a few months.

The greater the degree of hearing loss and the longer you’ve been experiencing it, the more of a challenge it is to get used to hearing aids. Try to be patient. There’s no perfect way to get used to hearing aids. However, the time you invest in training yourself to hear with hearing aids is worth it.

If you need to, come back for help. We can make adjustments or offer suggestions on how to make them work better. We’re here if you need us!

Tips on Using Hearing Aids

Here are a few suggestions to help us program your hearing aids correctly:

  1. Wear your hearing aids frequently. Wearing them helps you get used to them. Plus, the more you wear them the more data we’ll have to make any necessary adjustments.
  2. Make a list of where you have difficulty hearing so we can adjust the devices to work in your favorite environments. Is it in restaurants? When you’re in a meeting at work? We want to know.
  3. Be patient. We will help you get the most from your hearing aids, but it may take a few tries to get it right. Keep in mind that improving your hearing can be a process.

If you’re not satisfied with your hearing aids, visit us and we will make any necessary changes to improve the fit. Our hearing aids come with a trial or adjustment period, usually 30 days from the purchase date. You also have the option of returning your hearing aids for a refund in the trial period. There’s just a small fitting/restocking fee.
